A unique mix of self catering accommodation in Princetown, Devon. Ramblers’ Rest is a uniquely individual guest house, which offers hotel accommodation, but in a self catering style. The rooms all offer comfort and elegance in the centre of Dartmoor.

The Ramblers’ Rest has been created to offer comfortable accommodation after a day of exploration. They are geared up to cater for a range of visitors and can even accommodate large groups of up to twenty-seven people. We are mud and pet friendly and we welcome dogs in the majority of our rooms. They know that you want to explore our local landscape and so have introduced a concept of ‘simple self-catering’: they provide you with a sink, fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave, giving you flexibility and freedom. This allows you to prepare packed lunches, organise hungry children and enjoy fresh milk with your complimentary tea or coffee. There is a great local shop and post office that offers a wide choice of supplies if you need anything else. In addition, we are located within 3 minutes walk of a fantastic pub, The Prince of Wales, who offer excellent food and local beverages. For anyone that wants a cooked breakfast, we have the additional bonus of being located right next door to the dog-friendly Fox Tor Cafe.

Dartmoor Brewery

Dartmoor is our birthplace, our home, and the inspiration for our ales. All our beers are brewed in Princetown, at the heart of Dartmoor National Park in the South West of England, making us the highest brewery in England, at 1465ft above sea level. Breathtaking scenery, wide open spaces and crisp fresh air all around, creating a unique backdrop for the brewer’s art, and adding an undefinable depth, quality and character to every Dartmoor Brewery ale.

Top Tip

The Ramblers’ Rest stands proudly in the centre of Princetown overlooking Duchy Square. Princetown is the highest settlement on Dartmoor and one of the highest in the UK. This fantastic location is located remotely in the centre of the moors, however, Princetown itself offers a few but diverse range of shops and services, a range of dining is minutes from the doorstep including The Prince of Wales public house. There is a good convenience store and post office, an outdoor activity store and there’s even a beautician and hairdresser. Princetown even boasts its own brewery – The Dartmoor Brewery, home to the esteemed Jail Ale. Even more well-known is the infamous Dartmoor Prison and the Dartmoor Prison Museum. The Market town of Tavistock is just 15 minutes drive and again, there is a wealth of individual shops and eateries. Tavistock also has beautiful river walks and a fantastic pannier market with goods to suit everyone.
