The Post Inn, a traditional 16th century village inn and pub is situated just off the A30 at Whiddon Down, Devon, 20 miles from Exeter and 7 miles from Okehampton. It offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere and boasts an excellent range of real ales and ciders. Our lovely pub grub is prepared to the highest standards and will really whet your appetite (and you won’t go hungry). A perfect place to relax and unwind for locals and visitors to our beautiful county of Devon.

Mike and Deb took over in 2015 and have already built a local reputation for good pub grub and generous portions. The Post inn has a varied menu catering for all tastes, for example, for lunch, a loaded jacket potato or a mouth watering filled to the brim crusty baguette. For the bigger appetite to rebuild your reserves, why not enjoy a juicy pan fried rib eye steak with stacks of chips and salad or seasonal veg.

The Sunday carvery has three choices of beautiful roasted meats plus a vegetarian option. Our carvery is always very popular and booking is highly recommended to avoid disappointment. With two local real ales on tap and other guest ales and local ciders, there is always a superb choice.

Families and dogs are welcome. We offer a varied children’s menu and high chairs. Why not enjoy a leisurely lunch or dinner in our large beer garden and take in the views of the glorious Devon landscape? We have a spacious car park and welcome camper vans. Within walking distance is the Travelodge at Whiddon Down Services, guests regularly dine with us and wander back after a hearty meal (and maybe a tipple or two).
THE POST INN KEEPS A WELL STOCKED BAR WITH FINE ALES, CIDER, WINE AND POPULAR DRINKS

National Trust - Castle Drogo

Castle Drogo was the last castle to be built in England. It is a dramatic castle overlooking the Teign Gorge, undergoing a conservation project to make it watertight. Nothing is normal.
