Old Exeter Inn

Real Ale Trail
The Old Exeter was established 1130 A.D. and has been going for almost 900 years making them one of the World's Oldest Inns. Sir Walter Raleigh was arrested here on July 19 1603, for treason against King James I. He was taken directly from the Exeter Inn to the Tower of London where he remained until 1616. Sir Francis Drake was also a regular drinker with Raleigh at the Exeter. More recently they have been in the Good Beer Guide for over 20 years. They serve Real Ale on gravity straight from the barrel. They also have a huge range of Craft Beers on Tap and over 40 different brews from around the world. When you're here try their 100% Italiano Genuino Brewhouse Pizza and daily specials.

With ever-changing Real Ales gravity served from the granite stillage, Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) has awarded the Old Exeter Inn every year (twenty actually) for the consistent quality of their ales.

Enjoy their beautiful, cozy rooms for any occasion! With Bar, Snug, Parlour, Confessional, Otter Tap Room and Mediterranean Garden (with Brewhouse Bar), the Old Exeter Inn is the perfect venue throughout the year. They have log fires in the cooler winter months.

Fancy being a landlord? Now you can be! Pour your own Real Ale in the Otter Tap Room. Reserve your own pump or all three! Book a Pin (36 pints) or a Firkin (72 pints) of Real Ale and they guarantee your group will have a great time. They’ll get Brewhouse Pizza fired up to your requirements. A Craft Beer and Craft Pizza extravaganza.

They have music and events happening weekly.

What’s Your Poison?
They’ve been in the poison business since medieval times. In fact when Sir Walter was enjoying his, they’d already been going for 473 years.

Real poison takes real passion! The Passion of the Craft. The skill of making something with love and care. Beautiful things to enjoy and most importantly, to taste. And that’s what the Old Exeter Inn is all about. Taste. The really great pubs of our time are evolving as customers seek the unusual. An experience in a glass. They’ve been doing that for nine centuries. Now that’s a real Craft!

Real Ale
Straight from the barrel, their local, regional & national ales change constantly and are carefully selected for style and strength. They’ve been in the Good Beer Guide every year for over 20 years.

Craft On Tap
With 10 taps of Award-Winning UK & International Craft Beers & Ciders on the go at all times, you can taste the world at the Old Exeter Inn. These are not to be missed.

More & More Craft
If 10 taps aren’t enough you can really explore the world of Craft Beer at the Old Exeter Inn. They usually stock between 30 and 40 vessels of poison from around the globe. This is where your true journey of taste takes off.

Rough Cider & Perry
Rough Cider & Perry is always available at the Inn. The West Country is famed for the real stuff and they normally have 5 or 6 to choose from including their own Lamb & Serpent. A gentle cider with a bite. Enjoy carefully!
